  • AbelaPharm Swiss producer has bought the production facility from German company STADA

We are pleased to announce that AbelaPharm Swiss producer, one of the leaders in the field of probiotic production in the Balkans, has officially acquired the production facility from German pharmaceutical company STADA in a nearby surrounding of Belgrade.

This is the second factory owned by AbelaPharm, where more than 6 million euros have been invested over the last year and a half in the equipment, machinery, plants, production processes and manufacturing licenses acquired from prominent European and global companies.

During the development of the successful company, the turning point occurred more than ten years ago, when the first probiotic preparation Bulardi® was produced. Nowadays, the most significant part of Abela Pharm's portfolio is a wide range of probiotic products. In the past year, over a million packages have been produced.

AbelaPharm Swiss, for which the factory produces, expects that this acquisition will propel AbelaPharm among one of the most prominent probiotic producers in Europe.

The pharmaceutical production facility in Stari Banovci, where over 4 million euros have been invested for its construction and equipment, will be further modernized by the adaptation, expansion and purchase of new machines, enabling significant expansion of AbelaPharm Swiss, which already sells its products in the European Union market, in the Balkans and Africa, and is going to expand in Asian market as well.

In 2017 this successful company was the first one to introduce a unique, innovative flow pack technology, enabling all PVdC blister packs to be additionally protected by an external three-layer bag filled with inert gas. It obtains oxygen barrier properties and provides maximum protection against external influences - temperature, humidity and light.

The company announces that significant funds will continue to be invested regarding development of new production programs and technologies, and the improvement of the existing ones. However, the employees are the most valuable assets; therefore, it will keep on investing in its staff. The success is mostly due to, according to the announcement, the highly educated staff, accounting for over 70% of AbelaPharm's employees, including specialists, research associates of the University, PhDs and renowned international experts.

Abela Pharm Company presented on March 2nd, 2015 at the Metropol Hotel in Belgrade, CARDIOvitamin® - a unique product intended for prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

Cardiovascular diseases are the third most common cause of death in the world. In Serbia, an average of 36,000 people sustain each year heart attack or stroke, and the fact that we are among the leading countries both in the Europe and in the world with the highest cardiovascular mortality rates should rise our awareness and remind us of the importance of prevention. Treatment is always more difficult and more expensive way of fighting against the disease. Therefore emphasis should be placed on combating the risk factors.

We have heard countless times of numerous risk factors: smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes etc. However, most people have never heard before of homocysteine - a risk factor for onset of cardiovascular diseases, which is increasingly frequently implied recently.

Professor Nenad Ugrešić, head of the Department of Pharmacology at the School of Pharmacy in Belgrade says: ''It is important to know that homocysteine damages blood vessels. This in turn may increase the risk of heart attack and stroke. Cardiovitamin® is a unique product at our market. It contains an optimal combination of vitamins which act to reduce homocysteine in the blood.

CARDIOvitamin® is especially recommended in combination with acetylsalicylic acid preparations such as aspirin or others, which are already used by the patients, since their synergistic actions help the optimal antiplatelet effect and keep blood vessels from damage,'' said Professor Ugrešić.

'' Due to some type of genetic error, as much as 58% of people in Serbia, are unable to convert folic acid into its active form which reduces homocysteine levels. That is why it is especially recommended to use CARDIOvitamina®. CARDIOvitamin® contains one active form of folic acid which lowers homocysteine levels, thus further helping to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke, '' said Professor Zorana Vasiljevic, Specialist in Internal Medicine – Cardiologist at the meeting.

CARDIOvitamin® containing nutrients necessary for heart and blood vessels in a comfortable dose of 1 capsule per day can be found in all pharmacies in Serbia.
